The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) is the most significant expansion of the US Food and Drug Administration's authority to regulate cosmetics since the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act was passed in 1938.
MoCRA is expected to impact every company in the cosmetics industry. The Independent Beauty Association (IBA) is the largest organization representing indie beauty companies. IBA is surveying its members to get their input on MoCRA. FDA recently posted a new docket for public comment on MoCRA facility registration, product listing and product labeling.
IBA is drafting comments on behalf of its members and other companies in the beauty industry. By sharing questions, concerns and "wish list" feedback for each section of MoCRA, beauty companies can play a positive role in MoCRA implementation. In addition to members’ inputs, IBA is also looking to get feedback from the industry at large to help provide the broadest feedback to FDA.
